Q: Can I have two sponsors?

Do what you want, but this is why I think it's a horrible idea:

Every sponsor has a blind spot. Let's say the blind spot covers 20% of your crap.

That means that they'll pick you up on 80% of your crap. You're responsible for picking up on the rest.

If you have two sponsors, let's say in two fellowships, you'll have two sponsors, each with a blind spot covering 20% of your crap.

However, the way it works is that people will usually take their crap to the sponsor with the relevant blind spot to get their crap co-signed or ignored.

So, you'll take your A crap to sponsor A (with the blind spot in area A), and conceal it from sponsor B, who would call you out, but, hey, you've taken it to a sponsor (in this case A), so you're good.

You'll do the same with the B crap.

You'd think having two sponsors would cover over the gaps. In fact, it is the gaps that are additive, not the good stuff. So that, with two sponsors, each with a 20% blind spot, the sponsee ends up with a 40% blind spot, not a 0% blind spot.

This is why someone who consults five people can run the risk of believing they have consulted widely whilst successful bringing material precisely and only to the people who will co-sign it, resulting in their being 100% in the blind spot, but now with cover.

Isn't the ego clever?
